What's New for the 2019 Nissan Altima?

There is a lot of change in store for the 2019 Altima, which is the sixth generation of the car from Nissan. Cosmetically, the interior is now more open and designed to feel airy. On the outside, the vehicle is designed to look more athletic. The car is both wider and lower than previous versions. One of the biggest changes is in the two new low-profile engine options, which allows for some of the cosmetic changes. For added safety, Nissan is introducing Safety Shield 360 with Rear Automatic Braking. This goes well with the ProPILOT Assist driving aid. The ProPILOT can help drivers maintain a set speed or a set distance between them and the vehicle ahead. It can also help keep the vehicle centered in the lane. Nissan has aimed to make ProPILOT more user-friendly than other driver assistance programs on the market. Between it and the Safety Shield 360, the Altima can help you prevent collisions from ever happening.

The 2019 Altima is available with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. This is the first time this vehicle has had an AWD option. It gives the driver extra traction but is designed to still feel like driving a rear-wheel car. This is great for drivers who have previously felt forced into switching to small SUVs in order to get AWD. Perhaps most exciting is the world's first Variable Compression Turbo engine. This engine is able to compete with many V6 engines on the market while still giving you the fuel efficiency of a 4-cylinder. The compression ratio in this engine can change from 14:1 (high-efficiency) to 8:1 (high performance.) This engine has taken over 20 years to develop and may revolutionize engines moving forward.

The engine has also been redesigned to give you more horsepower and torque while reducing noise and harshness. Drivers will also notice fewer vibrations while moving down the road. Not only will this car have better fuel efficiency, but these new Altimas will also have cleaner emissions. Drivers interested in the new Altima will have their pick from 5 different trims. These are S, SR, SV, SL, and Platinum. Those interested in AWD will be happy to know that it is an option on all of the trims.
